Post Game Recap - 19 & 20 July

The Blue Tongues continued their drive to make the top 4 Saturday night with a convincing 5-2 victory over the Canberra Knights. There exists a rivalry between these 2 teams since the Knights knocked the Tongues out of playoff contention last season, and Saturdays game had all the features of such a game; hard hits, lots of emotion and solid fast paced hockey. Bryan Lachance led the team with 2 goals and an assist for the game. Dave Upton stepped up his game with a 3 point game also; 1G 2A. CJ Anderson was solid between the pipes letting in just 2 goals off 20 shots. The other scorers for the Tongues were #22 Gaetan Royer and #21 Chris Martin.

Sundays game was an entirely different story. In the first period 6 players were tossed from the game, including the entire top line of the Blue Tongues (Royer, LaChance & Conner). The Blue Tongues 2nd and 3rd lines stepped up to the plate and played hard for over 40 minutes with standout games by #88 Dave Upton and #11 Matt Lehoczky. The Knights used the Blue Tongues missing top line to their benefit and without the hard checking play of Gaetan Royer and Bryan LaChance, the Tongues struggled to keep up with them. . The game ended 7-3 in favour of the Knights.
